Belvidere Residents Exposed To TB: Symptoms To Watch For
Last week health officials confirmed a case of Tuberculosis at Belvidere North High School. According to Eyewitness News, a general letter was sent to parents. Additionally, parents of students with direct exposure received a second notice.
Belvidere North officials notified parents that students who have come in direct and prolonged contact with the affected student will need to have a TB skin test. Those parents were notified by an additional letter.
Symptoms of Tuberculosis Include (via MayoClinic.org):
- Chills
- Coughing that lasts three or more weeks
- Coughing up blood
- Chest pain, or pain with breathing or coughing
- Fatigue
- Fever
- Loss of appetite
- Night sweats
- Unintentional weight lost
