Illinois Is In For More Pain At The Pump–Check These Numbers

Before this morning's announcement by President Biden that the United States would stop purchasing Russian oil, the national average for a gallon of gas was $4.06, which is 45 cents more than a week ago, 62 cents more than a month ago and $1.30 more than a year ago.

The national average has not been this high since July 2008, according to AAA Chicago.

As Of This Morning, The National Average Price Per Gallon Is $4.17, But In Illinois, It's $4.42

And, according to AAA Chicago, here in Winnebago County, that average price is $4.26 per gallon. Boone County is averaging $4.39, Stephenson is $4.32, Ogle County is $4.28, Carroll County is $4.15, Lee County sits at $4.30, Jo Daviess is $4.14, and Whiteside County is $4.46.

When you move closer to Chicago's Cook County (along with the collar counties), you're looking at $4.60 in Cook, $4.52 in DuPage, $4.50 in Will, $4.50 in Kankakee, $4.45 in Kane, and $4.39 in Lake County.

Here Are Some Of Rockford's Numbers To Put Things Into Perspective

It's somewhat weird compiling all of these different gas price averages from around the state, especially knowing that those numbers are literally going up as you read this.

In Rockford, we started out on this most recent Sunday morning with an average gas price of $4.15. By Monday morning, we were sitting at $4.19.

One week ago, Rockford's average price for gas was $3.77.

One month back, Rockford area residents were shelling out $3.52 on average.

One year ago, you were paying, on average, $2.86 per gallon in and around Rockford.
