Maybe you've driven by Fran Volz's snow sculptures that are up in Rockford.

The first sculpture created by Fran caught the eye of Rockford after it seemed like popped up overnight. Everyone was like wait, where did this amazing creation come from? Fran did it all himself after his snow sculpting team couldn't compete in the annual snow sculpting competition.

This was his first sculpture

Our first snow of the season...only 1-1/2". But the weather was perfect: highs 28°F, cloudy all week!

But every mermaid needs a fish friend right? That's when Fran added this colorful sculpture.

One for the kids....a snow sculpture in living color! 😃

But since then, we've got a ton more snow, which means it's time for some new sculptures. This time, it's just in time for Lent.

Just finished this snow sculpture in Rockford Illinois. 8 feet tall.

8 FEET TALL! How incredible is that? Someone asked Fran a while ago how he gets started making these sculptures and he said how he makes the snow into uniformed blocks, and then he chips away at them until they're made into his sculptures.

The sculptures are created at 1103 N Church St, Rockford IL. And Fran encourages the public to stop by and check out his work. Take some pics, say hi to Fran if he's out there, and be inspired by all the snow we have in Rockford.
