A Temporary Closure Just Turned Permanent for One Rockford Restaurant
It's no secret that the COVID pandemic has been TOUGH on many Rockford-area businesses, especially restaurants and bars. Many were forced to reinvent how they did business just to keep their doors open, and now that they made it past that hurdle, they've got a whole new set of challenges to overcome. Namely, staffing shortages and increasing food and supply prices.
Another Mary's Market Location Has Permanently Closed
To truly understand the bummer news I am about to give you, we need to look back at what Mary's Market has been facing since 2022 began.
Back on January 6, 2022, Mary's Market made this announcement on Facebook...
Then this announcement was made on February 2, 2022, and I really thought it could provide a silver lining for the fate of the Mary's Market at Edgebrook in Rockford...
When both of these announcements were made at the beginning of 2022, it really seemed like staffing and supply shortages were the root of the problem, but now it's become too much to overcome.
A recent Rockford Register Star article says a sign is now posted on the doors of the Mary's Market Edgebrook location that says "This Cafe is Closed".
Now, it's possible that the sign has been there for several months now, BUT John Clark, director of Mary's Market cafe operation, did confirm to the RRStar that the Edgebrook location is "no longer going to be a Mary's Market". (No official announcement has been made on Mary's Market's social media pages yet).
What Does the Future Hold for Mary's Market?
I always hate seeing anything close in the Rockford area, but I feel slightly comforted knowing that we still have two Mary's Market locations to enjoy; the East State and Perryville Cafes. Mary's Market is still offering catering services too, learn more about that at marysmarket.com.
