91-Year-Old Carjacked in Illinois Hospital Parking Lot, Hour After Wife Passes
An elderly man was cleaning the snow off of his car, in a Peoria Illinois hospital parking lot. The 91-year-old man was injured when the car was stolen...that's not even the worst part. YAHOO
Gabriel M. Messenger, 19 was arrested and booked for vehicular hijacking and aggravated battery after he jumped and carjacked a 91-year-old man. This took place last week in the parking lot of OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
The elderly man had just left the hospital, after his wife passed away. He was cleaning to snow off of his car that had built up, while he was in the hospital. While cleaning off his car, the 19 year old Gabriel Messenger appeared and stole the car. The elderly man was hurt in the carjacking, luckily this happened in the hospital parking lot and the elderly man was able to receive medical treatment immediately. After a struggle, the carjacker took off from the hospital parking lot. Not too long after, police were on the scene and were able to track down the vehicle thief.
Officers found Gabriel Messenger at his home, and a short chase started. This chase was very brief and was done at a slow speed...The car thief was caught in the stolen vehicle, when the car was stuck in a ditch. Mr. Gabriel was captured and arrested for vehicular hijacking and aggravated battery.
