This year more than ever, we need to look out for each other. Whether that means holding the door a little longer for somebody to get inside, or gathering up stuff around your house to donate, it's incredibly important that we come together as a community during the holidays.

Hopefully this story inspires you to give this holiday season. The Winnebago County Salvation Army got an anonymous donation that left them feeling incredibly grateful for the community's generosity. The Salvation Army, they received a donation that is basically like a gift that keeps on giving, a 10-ounce silver bar.

According to a press release from The Salvation Army -

“May this help you feed the hungry.” This is the message from an anonymous donor, who dropped off a 10-ounce silver bar at The Salvation Army Winnebago County Temple Corps, at 500 S. Rockford Avenue. The donor’s wish was written on a piece of paper wrapped around the silver ingot.

So like we mentioned, this donation is really the gift that keeps on giving. The silver bar, worth an estimated $235, will provide 14 bags of groceries to families in need in Winnebago County. So consider donating this year, every single donated item helps.
