A family in Wilmington was cleaning out their garage when they discovered quite a surprise. It was a real-life military grenade. Someone in the family served, and they figured that person brought it home as a souvenir.

Luckily, the homeowners did the right thing and immediately called the local police. The officers determined that the grenade could still be live, so they brought in the bomb squad. It was a little scary in the neighborhood for a bit, but it all ended safely.
According to Patch...
At 2:20 p.m., officers learned of a suspicious item, a grenade, inside the homeowner's garage while the garage was being cleaned out.
"It was determined there was probable cause to believe the item could still be operational and the Cook County Bomb Squad was contacted to dispose of the item for safety and security purposes," Wilmington police revealed.
People around Wilmington were warned to remain inside their homes, and everyone else was told to avoid the area.
