Here's a list of things not to do when you go out to a restaurant in Rockford.

Everybody likes going out for a nice dinner. It's a special treat. You don't have to cook. Plus, there are so many great places to eat in Rockford. To make sure you have an enjoyable experience, elitedaily.com has come up with a great list of things not to do.

"Restaurant Staff Reveal 7 Worst Things Customers Do And You’re Totally Guilty."

1. "Stacking glasses and plates" I'm always impressed at JMK Nippon on how the staff can perfectly stack all the dishes. If I tried that, they would just fall over and make a mess.

2. "Sitting at an uncleared table" It's one thing if you're at Murphy's for the Cubs game and all the tables are taken. As soon as one frees up, you have to pounce on it. If you're going out for a nice dinner, you're better off waiting.

3. "Picking your table" Back in the day when you went to Cliffbreaker's for the Friday night seafood buffet, you would want a table with a nice view of the Rock River. Well, remember servers are assigned sections. If you don't sit at the next table that is open, one of them is losing money.

4. "Ignoring the question, "Are you happy with your food?" I was eating at Vintage 501. The owner came over and ask me about my meal. That made me feel good. It shows they care. I really appreciate it when I'm asked. You wouldn't ignore your mom if she asked.

5. "Complaining directly to the manager" Nobody likes it when somebody goes over their head. Think about it. When you're at work, if somebody has a problem and they go to your supervisor instead of you. It makes you angry. Your waiter or a waitress at a restaurant feels the same way.

6. "Not mentioning you're splitting the bill" When I go out to eat with a big group, we usually all just throw in money. A few weeks ago, a big group of us went to Hoffman House for dinner. We asked for separate checks before ordering and it worked out great. Then, there's no wondering who had the appetizer.

7. "When you're being way to chatty" I have a friend who always likes to flirt with waitresses. You can always tell when they are getting annoyed. They try avoiding your table. So, much for refills.

I hope this helps you enjoy your next dining out experience.
