We all know Illinois is the Land of Lincoln. Of course, it also the Corn State, the Garden of the West, and the Inland Empire State, but our official nickname is The Prairie State. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and like so many others who live in Chicago or one of the close collar counties, I thought the Chicagoland area was Illinois.

Did you know that bison have been missing from Illinois since 1836? I never would have guessed it was that early. That is only eighteen years after Illinois became a state. What? Were every single one of Ted Nugent's ancestors living here or what?

Let them run free, I say.
