A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Winnebago County, set to begin this afternoon. A "watch" as compared to a "warning" means that there is the potential for significant and hazardous winter weather. A warning means it's coming for sure...but we should be informed and prepare for what we could see later today.

From MyStateline the Winnebago County Winter Storm Watch is set to begin around 4pm this afternoon, heavy snow is possible and we are looking at around 5 to 8 inches total. Also included in this watch is some strong wind gusts, up to forty miles per hour. This winter storm watch is scheduled to start this afternoon and continue through Tuesday. Snow, sleet, and ice covered roads are all possible.

Because of the heavy snowfall and high winds, driving will be difficult. So if you have any plans this evening, perhaps postponing them might be a good idea. Also your Tuesday morning drive to work could take some extra time.

Boone County, Ogle County, Stephenson, Carroll, Dekalb, Jo Daviess, and Lee are all included in this Severe Winter Storm Watch. IF you have to be out this evening, remember to give yourself some extra time, and the headlights are on.
