Sad, After 50 Years the Rockford Clock Tower Resort is Being Demolished Next Week
It's the end of an era.
After standing at the entrance to I-90 for 50 years, Rockford's Clock Tower resort is set to be demolished next week.
According to Eyewitness News, a date has yet to be been confirmed for when it will go under the wrecking ball and plans for the location also haven't been confirmed.
Ideas like a casino, retail shops, a hotel, and your suggestions are being considered. Whatever it ends up being, the developer wants to make sure it brings the most jobs possible and it will be something Rockfordians will really love to use.
Surely this demolition will bring on some mixed emotions from the entire community. If you worked there, stayed there, had your birthday party there, or you just remember passing it on your way to Chicago, then it's kind of sad.
Other people are happy to see it go, saying that it just wasn't what it used to be.
We don't know what it will be, but Steve and I had a chance to talk to Brent Johnson, CEO of Ringland-Johnson, about the property's future.
