This Yodeling Youngster From Illinois Is The Newest Viral Sensation
His name is Mason and he's America's newest viral sensation.
The young man in the above video is Mason Ramsey. He's a 10-year-old from Harrisburg, Illinois. What? You don't know where Harrisburg is? For shame. It's a bustling town of 9,000 people in SOUTHERN Illinois, just a stone's throw away from (unsurprisingly) Kentucky.
Little Mason here is a rising star in the yodeling community.
- Side Bar - I'm not sure if this is technically yodeling. I've seen debates online that this is just old-timey country singing. Yodeling really helped the alliteration in the headline and should lead to more clicks so I went with yodeling. Sorry if this offends any real yodelers out there.
Back to Mason. This isn't his first time being noticed. The young man has already had some minor success.
Complex - The 10-year-old isn't new to the game. In January 2015, he won first place in the Beginner Division of the 27th Annual Kentucky Opry Talent Search. Hell yeah.
Here's the biggest compliment I think I can give Mason. Please, please, please keep in mind that I actually like this kid and wouldn't mind hearing more from him. Here it goes. If you had told me that I was going to watch a video of a little guy in cowboy boots, bowtie, and a belt buckle the size of his head yodel in the aisles of a WALMART and I WOULDN'T want to stuff him in a locker, I would have said you're crazy. But that's just how good this kid is.
So keep on yodelin' kid. The sky's the limit for you.
