RPS 205 Won’t Require COVID Vaccinations for Upcoming School Year

The school year many parents, students and school staff thought we would never get through is almost over, and I surprisingly feel much less scathed than I thought I would.

As a parent it wasn't easy to adjust schedules when COVID 'things' happened, and I can only imagine how all the adjustments effected our hardworking, stressed out teachers, but we got through it.

Despite the many challenges this school year presented, both of my girls flourished, and I will never be able to properly thank their teachers and schools for making that possible.

As we look ahead to the 2021/2022 school year there are still many unknowns, but RPS 205 issued a Back to School Update today that answered a few questions many parents, students and staff have been asking. The biggest points to note are:

• RPS 205 will NOT be offering a remote-only option for the 2021/2022 school year unless it is medically necessary for the student or their family. All students will be returning to in-person classes.
• COVID-19 vaccinations will NOT be required for any students to return to school, but RPS 205 highly suggests getting students 12 and older vaccinated prior to the start of the school year. If your student has already been vaccinated, proof needs to given to their school's nurse so their records can be updated.
• At this point, all students, school staff and visitors will be required to wear face masks and practice social distancing. RPS 205 said; "Despite the updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the governor’s office about relaxing mask requirements, the directions are unchanged at schools." If COVID-19 protocols regarding face masks change over the summer, this requirement may change.

As a parent I fully believe RPS 205 will do what's best to keep our kids safe, let's just all keep our fingers crossed that the 2021/2022 school year will be WAY less stressful for all.
