In mere days kids will be returning to Rockford Public Schools and parents have been vocal with questions about why the schools are opening, the flexibility of e-learning, and more. We were lucky enough to sit down (virtually) with RPS 205 Superintendent Dr. Ehren Jarrett to ask him some of your questions.

A call from someone claiming to be a teacher in Rockford might be the reason we were able to get an opportunity to chat with the undoubtedly uber-busy Superintendent. The call drew concern from an RPS 205 official over misinformation that had been shared by the caller. After a few back-and-forth emails were given the go-ahead with booking Dr. Jarrett for a quick Zoom meeting to allow us to ask some of the questions we've been reading on Facebook or shared amongst RPS 205 parents we know.

This 8-minute conversation included how RPS 205 reached the decision to open schools for in-class instruction, the flexibility of remote learning, and what scenarios could cause schools to transition to complete remote learning. Another topic included the clarification of "Special Attendance Days" on Wednesdays- what it is and why it is important.

This conversation wouldn't have taken place without the help of Cathy Bayer, RPS 205's Communications Coordinator.
