Danica Patrick earned a nice spot to start the Indianapolis 500 for her racing finale.

Her career might not be full of wins but she still became a household name.

She was a woman trying to fit in the "boy's club" of racing.

I met her early on in her career and she has always been determined to be successful.

You have to admit, she used what the "good lord gave her" to her advantage to be a stand out in the world of endorsements.

Danica also brought new fans to the sport.

After the end of last year's NASCAR season, Patrick announced that she would be retiring. The driver would finish her career with two final races, the Daytona 500 and the Indy 500.

This Sunday is the "grand finale" in Indianapolis.

According to mystateline.com,

"Patrick had an impressive showing at the Indy 500 Qualifying. The Roscoe native was the first of the Fast 9 to qualify, and Patrick put together a 4-lap average of 228.090 mph, good enough to start seventh in her final race as a professional driver."

It's a good place for her to start.

Hopefully, it will be a good finish for her.

No matter if you like her or not, remember she's a "hometown girl" and cheer her on to victory.
