Rockford Police Receive Memorial Keepsake In Honor of Officer Cox
It's been over four months since Officer Cox was killed in the line of duty, and the Rockford community is still reeling from the loss.
Blue lights are still blazing on residents' homes across the Stateline, and an outpouring of support for Officer Cox's family is still being shown throughout the city. The support also extends to Officer Cox's brothers and sisters in blue who continue to protect our community while trying to move on from the reminder of the dangers they face daily on the job.
If you follow Rockford's music scene, you have probably heard the name Luke Pitney. Luke is not only an incredibly talented Country musician, but he is also an extremely gifted carpenter.
Luke has been hand-crafting furniture by request for years in his Rockford workshop, but recently decided to step up his game and launch his first brand called Pitney Reclaimed Timberworks. This new brand will offer several handcrafted pieces made entirely from locally salvaged and refurbished wood. They are available for online ordering right now, but Pitney hopes to have a Rockford storefront in the future.
Pitney's first mission with his new business venture was to create a beautiful keepsake for the Rockford Police Department in honor of Officer Cox's memory. The finished piece was presented to 911 Rockford Police Dispatchers on Tuesday, and it is breathtaking...
Thank you, Luke for using your incredible talent to create something so meaningful that can be cherished for years to come by those who are still grieving.
