It's been two years since Rockford Police Officer Jaimie Cox, was killed in the line of duty. The community support at events, and the blue lights throughout Rockford,  absolutely incredible. For family and friends the pain is obviously still there, but the love shown does mean a lot.

When hearing the news and those dreaded words "officer down" on November 5th 2017, I reached out to a friend. It was 3:30 in the morning and I went from being sort of awake to being wide awake.  Having friends that wear the badge you know that there's always that possibility, but how can you really be ready?

I wanted to share an edited version of my text exchange. This is a screen shot I've looked at 1000's of times over the last two years:

As Officer Jaimie Cox's brothers and sister in uniform, family, and friends grieve...throw a blue light on your porch. Go look at the Morgan Street Bridge as it glows blue. Visit the Winnebago County 9/11 Emergency Responders Memorial.

R.I.P. Officer Cox, Blessed Are The Peacemakers.
