A former Rockford resident fulfills a lifelong dream by creating a festival in our community featuring Cheap Trick.

Having Goals And Dreams

John Barry is originally from Rockford. He grew up around the radio station and used to actually play in the field behind our building. He is a big Cheap Trick fan and saw them many times in his life.

John's career goal was to start his own company and he did that, It is called Star Events. More info, HERE. It is a promotional company that puts on Festivals throughout the country.

His dream was to start a festival in his hometown of Rockford and to have the "Hometown Heroes," Cheap Trick play that event.

Living Your Dream

It finally came true. This upcoming 4th of July Weekend is the first annual Long Play Music Fest at Rivets Stadium. Cheap Trick will be headlining Independence Day.

He stopped in to chat with me during my show. I really enjoy our conversation. We discussed growing up in Rockford, being a Cheap Trick fan, his company, this new festival, and much more.

If you missed the interview, check it out right now.

John is such a positive guy. We are lucky to have him believe in our community like this. I am getting excited about that weekend and the festival.
