Rockford City Council Meeting Tonight About Bridge Name, Please Attend

A name change to honor those we have lost is all they are asking.

The Morgan Street Bridge is a beautiful structure. I stood at Officer Cox's candlelight vigil, arm, and arm with complete strangers staring at the peaceful blue glow. How amazing would it be, have this Rockford landmark become a structure the city and the country could point at, as a symbol of honor and remembrance.

Tonight is the beginning of something that could make a change. The Officer Jaimie Cox Organization is asking residents of Rockford to attend the Rockford City Council Meeting this evening to support the possible name change of the Morgan Street Bridge to the "Police Memorial Bridge".

The Rockford City Council Meeting will begin at 5:30 pm, 425 E State St, Rockford, IL 61104.

They are not asking for statues, or to break ground, they are asking for the name of a bridge to be changed to honor the men and women in blue that have left us too soon.
