Leading the charge is live music. There are several venues to check out concerts, especially in the summertime. Some of them are even free. The musical talent level in Rockford is through the roof. If you're not getting out to experience it, then you're really missing out.

One of the best places to see live music during the summer is Prairie Street Brewing Company. They have that awesome stage on their dock with a perfect view of the Rock River. It's one of only a couple of places located right on the water.

As always, Illinois' favorite band and the pride and joy of Rockford, Cheap Trick, is out on the road most of the summer. It wouldn't be the same without them. Of course, they do get a few days off here and there. Each member spends their down time in different ways.

Back in 2014, Cheap Trick added an extra member to the band. That's Robin Taylor Zander. He's the son of lead singer, Robin Zander. He plays guitar, bass, sings, and has even filled in on drums a couple of times. The kid is talented.

Prairie Street Brewing Company

RTZ has a new solo album out and I highly recommend checking it out. On one of his off days from Cheap Trick, he'll be playing a show on the dockside stage at Prairie Street Brewing Company. It's a free concert on July 12th. I hope to see you there.

He will have a very special band lineup for the show including...

Adam Krier - Keyboard/Guitar from Lucky Boy Confusion
Adam Arling - Bass from The Last Vegas & Urge Overkill
Frank Ferrer - Drums from Guns N Roses
