Retired RPD Lt. Douglas Block to be Honored on #53 NASCAR This Weekend
Former Rockford Police Department Lt. Douglas Block, was badge #53, this weekend he will be honored on a NASCAR track.
Lt. Block suffered a career ending injury while on duty, back in 2006. This weekend at Dover the #53 driven by Rick Ware will be THE WOUNDED BLUE car. Former RPD LT. Block will be featured on the cars design.
The Wounded Blue is an amazing organization that helps officers that are wounded while serving and protecting. Over 50,000 officers are injured yearly on duty, this organization helped them out. Beyond just the physical, there is the PTSD and PTSI (Post Traumatic Stress Injury) that happens with our men and women that wear the badge.
