Rescuers are searching for a missing 5 year old in the Rock River this morning.

KWQC reports that a woman and 2 boys ages 8,9, and a 5-year-old were canoeing in the Rock River when the canoe went over the Steel Dam in Milan, IL Monday night.

The older boys and the woman were rescued, then "treated at the hospital and released and listed in good condition." However, the search is still on for the 5-year-old.

All were wearing life jackets at the time of rescue.

As of 10:55 AM Tuesday the 5-year-old is still missing. Crews are now "are doing surface level and sonar searches" to locate the youngster.

The DNR is listing this as a "Fatal Boating Accident" and it is still unclear as to how the canoe went over the dam.

Oh my gosh, I just can't even imagine what this child's family is going through right now.

This is a parent's worst nightmare. Not only that their child is missing but they're lost among the dark waters of the river.

I pray God's strength and comfort to them all.

I pray for wisdom, safety, and courage for those teams out searching to find this child.

May this child be found and the family receives relief and closure to this horrific event.
