The group has lived many separate lives since forming in 1967. Fleetwood Mac is best known for it's current line-up that first got together in 1975. In the early days, the Mac was a tough blues band anchored by their namesake rhythm section of drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie. Guitarist Peter Green left his place with John Mayall's Blues Breakers to join Fleetwood Mac full-time. By the way, Green had been in the Yardbirds previously. He replaced Eric Clapton. Looks pretty good on the resume, don't you think?

Along with Peter's guitar genius came personal demons. His bouts with mental illness are well-known. He left the band in 1970, only to return to the stage occasionally. I have read that 'The Green Manalishi (with the Two-Pronged Crown)' was the last song he recorded with Fleetwood Mac. It's a dark song. It's like a nightmare. A descent to hell. Happy Hump Day!

Judas Priest covered the song for their 1978 album 'Hell Bent for Leather.'
