It's fall, ya'll. Time to start packing on those extra few pounds for the winter, you know?

Well, that's at least what some people tend to do around this time of year. Family gatherings for the holidays are usually a sure-fire way to put on an extra 10-15 pounds.

For one Illinois county, the folks that live there might still be carrying that holiday weight from a few years ago.

That's because they were just named the laziest county in Illinois.

I understand that doesn't necessarily mean that the residents in this county are overweight but the lack of exercise certainly doesn't help matters.

24/7 Tempo profiled each state in America in order to find out the laziest 50 counties.

For Illinois, they chose Clay County, where according to 24/7 Tempo's research over 35% of the county doesn't exercise.

Compared to the nearly 22% statewide, that's a really big number.

It might have something to do with the lack of facilities in Clay County considering 90% of the population in Illinois has access to gyms and such. Meanwhile, places to workout in Clay County are much more sparse, only covering a little more than half of the population.

Residents "reporting poor or fair health" and those with diabetes in Clay County are much higher than the state average too.

I'd imagine the fastest way to fix the "lazy" problem with Clay County residents would be to give more access to workout facilities.

That said, if there's was a call for a place like an Anytime Fitness in Clay County there would already be one.
