Planning a summer vacation without the fear of flying or having to drive hours upon hours just to go somewhere?

I hear you. Considering how cold it's been the past few weeks, many of us (myself included) have started thinking about warmer weather.

That usually means figuring out where to go this summer. While most of us spent last summer sitting in our backyards I believe we'll travel a bit more in 2021.

So when I saw Far & Wide's list of Best Lake Getaways in the US, I was intrigued.

Way up at the top of the list is Baraboo, Wisconsin, just a few hours away from Rockford.

When I think of Baraboo, I also think of Wisconsin Dells. For me, it's always been "Why go to Baraboo when you can just stay in the Dells?" I mean, they got water parks!

Reading what Far & Wide had to say about Baraboo changed my mind:

...for lake lovers, Baraboo is a gem in the center of the state.

Devil’s Lake State Park is the flagship attraction here, offering glacial sand beaches and top-notch rock climbing.

Far & Wide also mentions Devils Lake State Park is "one of the state’s most popular camping destinations, with tent sites, RV sites, and even two teepee sites."

If roughing it isn't for you (believe me, I'm with you), apparently Baraboo has a plethora of options on VRBO and Airbnb on Lake Delton and Lake Wisconsin.

Have you stayed in Baraboo? Is it really one of the top lake getaways in America?
