Illinois' program for opioid alternatives has a good start.

When I first heard about this program, I was excited. I thought it was a great idea to give patients other options besides painkillers. I believe marijuana is a much better solution.

Of course, because it's Illinois I had my doubts that it would work out. So far, the state has proved me wrong with positive reviews coming out for the kick off of the program.

According to theherald-news.com,

“Illinois really stepped up,” Rick Niksic said. Niksic works for Greenhouse, which operates four dispensaries in Illinois, including ones in Morris and Mokena. “They recognize that medical cannabis is a safe alternative to a lot of dangerous drugs out there and have opened it up to a lot more people.”

Congratulations to Illinois. You finally got one right.
