Open Letter From Mercyhealth Employee Urges CEO to Sell the Healthcare System
Mercyhealth Rockford has been rather busy making big changes in 2020 and these aren't exactly COVID related either.
At the beginning of the pandemic, they announced several people were going to have to find new physicians as they would no longer be taking patients with Medicaid. Then, in the middle of August, it was announced they plan on making changes to their ER services at the Rockton Ave. location. Shortly after that announcement came the one regarding closing their mental health unit and per the Rockford Register Star, this was done without a hearing or state approval.
Now an ER employee from the Rockton Ave hospital has written an open letter to the city of Rockford detailing the daily challenges they as ER employees face. The letter also goes into details on how COVID-19 has added stress not only to health care workers, but also minority populations and the homeless.
