New Baseball Team to Play at Former Aviators Stadium

The Northwoods League has announced that it has awarded a franchise to the Rockford area to play home games in the former Aviators stadium.

Aviators stadium will be renamed, yet the name has not been announced.

According to WTVO, the new minor league baseball team will be in a new league for the 2016 season.

There has been an agreement signed for a 5-year lease. There will be upgrades to the concessions and other improvements done to the park as well.

This new team is not affiliated to any previous teams including the Rockford Aviators.

We will have to wait and see what happens.

Although many details have not been announced, we can at least be excited that there will be baseball at the former Aviators stadium.

I'd like to think I could name the team and stadium myself... maybe "Eagle Stadium?" Just an idea.
