Has a Strange Crime Ever Taken Place Right in Front of You?
There's a part to this bizarre story shared by a witness, that makes me very thankful for the men and women in law enforcement who, without hesitation, will walk right into the middle of terrifying things the rest of us won't go near.
From the story shared by abc7chicago.com, it appears no one else attempted to help this young woman prior to the Chicago Police Department Officer's arrival on the scene.
Naked Woman Lying on Street
Just after 9:30 a.m. on Monday (6/13/22) morning, a CPD officer discovered a naked woman lying in the middle of the street in West Garfield Park.
According to an eyewitness, when the officer approached her in the road,
...she ran and jumped in his car and ran over him.
The woman sped away in the CPD squad car on the Eisenhower Expressway and crashed into about five vehicles on Harrison and Damen. Another witness who was inside his car when she hit it, said she hit a few more cars before coming to a stop and jumping out of the squad car and running.
The naked woman was apprehended shortly after but this investigation was taking a very concerning turn at the site where the officer got injured.
Members of the woman's family had now arrived at the scene and they wanted details.
The woman's mother, who didn't want to be identified, said that her 34-year-old daughter had called her repeatedly that morning looking for help:
She was saying, 'Mom, come get me, please, please...
she'd said she been raped... 'I don't feel good'...
like I'd been drugged...'
I said, 'Where are you?' She said, 'I don't know...'
What happened to this woman before she was lying in the street completely naked? Investigators are working on answers. The suspect is currently undergoing a psychological evaluation.
In the video below, CPD Superintendant Brown gives an update on the officer's condition.
