As reported by Yahoo Finance, McDonald's plans to have all Happy Meals in the U.S. advertised on menu boards at 600 calories or less by June. At that time the only listed entree choices will be a hamburger or box of chicken nuggets. You will still be able to request a classic cheeseburger in you child's Happy Meal.

That's not the only changes coming to the Happy Meal. They will also be cutting the sugar content to the chocolate milk, plus adding bottled water to the menu. By 2022, the fast food giant's goal is that at least 50% or more of Happy Meals listed on menus in 120 markets will be 600 calories or less.

McDonald's wanted to go with healthier menu options after the child obesity rate in the U.S. almost tripled since the 1970's. A more environmentally friendly packaging is also planned for the Happy Meal.
