At this abandoned Blockbuster Video in Kenosha, Wisconsin, there is a really long wait for new releases to be available.

Weekend Social Life As A Kid 

There are those awkward years as a kid, well they all are, but I am talking about the time when you are old enough to hang out with friends on the weekends but before you have a driver's license.

You want to hang out on the weekends but you have no way of getting anywhere. Basically, you and your friends take turns hosting sleepovers. You order pizza, indulge in junk food, and chugging soda.

The Weekend Trip To The Video Store

If you were lucky, you could talk your parents into taking you to the video store to rent some movies. In particular, Blockbuster Video. It was the ultimate source of weekend fun. Walking up and down the aisle, looking for the hottest new releases or a hidden gem that impress your friends. You could spend hours looking for just the right movies.

Blockbuster was more like a cool hangout than a store. The latest movie playing throughout the building on several TVs. Movie posters, boxes, stand-ups, trailers, and all that delicious candy. You dreamed of working there someday.

Then All The Video Stores Were Suddenly Gone

As quickly as the video store took over the world, they were all gone. Time and technology passed it by. Unfortunately, the kids today will never get the chance to experience the rush of visiting Blockbuster Video.

Abandoned Blockbuster Locations Are Rare

These former entertainment headquarters were mostly built on prime real estate, so as soon as one went out of business, the property was taken over by the next big thing. That means it is very rare to see a former Blockbuster building still standing, let alone left abandoned.

That makes this find very special. It is kind of the unicorn of abandoned retail locations. Of course, there is not much left of the former Blockbuster but just looking inside will bring you back to the good old days of hitting the video store on Friday nights. I hope you enjoy the flashback.
