One of the World’s ‘Strangest Ice Cream Flavors’ is Made in Illinois
To some, there are only a handful of ice cream flavors.
To others, there's everything else.
As in, sure, you can get chocolate or vanilla ice cream just about anywhere but where can you try a Goat Cheese Cashew Carmel or an Apple Cider Sorbet?
Turns out, you can currently get those two types of flavors and a whole lot more at one ice cream joint in Illinois.
So as I was scrolling through Mashed I noticed an article called 20 Strange Ice Cream Flavors You Need to Try Before You Die where they mentioned a shop in Illinois.
It's called Black Dog Gelato and Mashed thinks they have some of the most off-the-wall ice flavors on Earth:
One of the most eye-catching flavors they've experimented with is a sesame-based gelato with swirls of miso caramel, cookie chunks, and caramelized ramen noodles.
That's right, those hard little squiggly noodles get the artisan treatment in this pint that turns the pantry staple into something that resembles a sugary crouton with its satisfying crunch. It's not a staple on the Black Dog's shop menu, but it's a must-order if you happen to be at the right place at the right time when this treat is available.
I can't even fathom what that must taste like, but I'll admit it, I wish I could order some right now. Turns out Black Dog's Sesame Gelato isn't on the menu at the moment (just as Mashed called it) but when it shows up, I'll be ordering some for sure.
Black Dog Gelato is located at 859 North Damen in Chicago.
