I want to be clear that I'm a fan of the food that a Missouri State Representative just submitted to make it the state's official dish. But, by any measure, it would be a weird staple to represent the Show Me State.
It always seems to be the most desirable food that ends up in an urgent product recall. That's the case for a vanilla ice cream product that's been sold in Missouri that could cause life-threatening allergic reactions if eaten.
It started out as an idea born from a cow - quite literally. What has become Dairy Queen began in a small Illinois building that still stands today although now it serves a completely different purpose.
