Plenty of people commute between Iowa and Illinois in our community. Living right on the Mississippi River, a lot of people live on one side and work on the other.

With the Quad Cities being made up of both Iowa and Illinois, we all have a little rivalry when it comes to the best drivers. Personally, I thought we all knew that Iowa had better drivers than Illinois but if it's proof you want, it's proof you'll get.

Iowa Has The Best Drivers In The Midwest

To prove to you that Iowa had better drivers than Illinois, I found two pieces of evidence proving that point. No, they aren't from 2011, they showed up in my inbox this month.

A study was done recently by Gunther VW Delray. Instead of basing the study on numbers and statistics alone, they decided to focus on the authentic observations of seasoned Roadtrippers. They surveyed 3,000 of these regular Roadtrippers and asked them to rank the overall driving skills of drivers in each state on a scale of 1-10

They found that Iowa ranked as the state with the 7th best drivers giving Iowa a 7.3/10. Michigan was the only other Midwest state to get the same ranking.

What did Illinois get? 6.7/10.

On August 17th, Forbes updated their list of states with the best and worst drivers by using statistics that we can all get behind.

Forbes looked at six key metrics like states with the highest number of drunk drivers, the number of fatal car accidents involving a distracted driver per 100,000 licensed drivers, the number of drivers who looked at a phone per mile, and others.

The study by Forbes found that Iowa has significantly better drivers than Illinois.

Iowa ranked 24th state with the best drivers. Illinois made it into the top 20. Top 20 states with the worst drivers.

To be exact, Illinois is the state with the 15th worst drivers. Sure, Illinois is one the best states for teen drivers, but that's because Illinois has smarter kids than Iowa, not adults.

If you still don't believe me, just take a drive around the Quad Cities and look at license plates. Don't forget that the yellow ones are the Illinois temporary license plates. Make sure you count those, too.

Hidden Pizza Gem 1 Hour Outside The Quad Cities

Having the best pizza in the Quad Cities has always been a fierce competition. I mean we even have our own version of pizza for goodness sake. While there are some incredible pizza joints in the Quad Cities, there are other pizza places that you need to visit. Geno's Pizza in Preston, IA is one of those places. It's less than an hour's drive from the Quad Cities and it's a spot you need to try.

Ghost In Our Iowa Basement?

As a radio station, we have a lot of people here who have seen some scary stuff. Do you see any ghosts in these photos? I can't, but I also don't know what to look for.

This Isn't The First Face Caught On Camera Here!
In September of 2020 the band "Pit Lord" came to the building to shoot a music video. They shot it in the basement and for a split second in the recording, you can make out a face of what looks to be a woman. You can see that video here.

With a history of ghosts, it's safe to say the basement of our building is CREEPY!
