Wisconsin Entering Danger Zone for Wind & Lightning Thursday
We know that weather is tricky as there are so many variables that determine if a forecast is accurate. However, there is increasing confidence that Wisconsin is entering a danger zone of sorts with wind and lightning damage possible in parts of the state beginning Thursday.
There is a new analysis of computer models that Ryan Hall just shared on his YouTube channel which explains why Wisconsin in particular seems to be vulnerable for intense lightning activity and possibly wind damage starting in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 13, 2024. Here's the wind outlook. Notice the projected line of lightning is estimated to start impacting Wisconsin at approximately 2am Thursday morning.
Once Thursday morning arrives, this computer model shows intense storm/wind activity over Minnesota and moving into Wisconsin as the day goes on.
It's worth noting that Wisconsin is also about to endure a heat wave with temperatures anywhere from 10 to 20 degrees above normal by the end of the upcoming weekend.
I haven't seen any specific forecasts from the National Weather Service out of Milwaukee for the potential for Thursday storms yet, but they do mention storm activity starting late Wednesday night.
Let me emphasize this isn't a forecast. This is just a heads up to pay attention to potential storm development late Wednesday into Thursday throughout many parts of Wisconsin. Variables can change and perhaps the storm activity will be less than what computer models show could happen. But, being aware of weather that could become dangerous is always a good idea.
