It doesn't matter what kind of vehicle, the time of day, or the location; if the thieves want your car, they will at least try to steal it. There's no fear. If you are not very careful where you park it or it will be gone before you come back out. I would think one of the safest places to leave it is in front of a police station.
According to Patch...
A male stole a vehicle from in front of a police station and then caused a four-vehicle crash Saturday in Schaumburg, according to authorities.

The vehicle in question was parked in front of the Schaumburg police department. The owner was standing next to the car, but the keys were still inside it, and the engine was running. The thief snuck over and stole it right in front of the guy. Not a smart move no matter where you park it. Even in front of the cop shop.
The thief ended up getting into an accident in the stolen vehicle. Luckily, no one was hurt, well, except the owner of the car and his feelings. I think he learned a valuable lesson from this incident.
