Illinois City Named a ‘Postcard-Perfect’ Place to Visit During the Holidays
If you want to celebrate Christmas and the entire holiday season the right way, apparently there's only one place to go.
But if you take a step back and take two seconds to think about a city in Illinois that would be considered absolutely "postcard-perfect" for a holiday visit it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out which place it might be.
So BobVila.com threw out a list of 35 Postcard-Perfect Towns to Visit This Holiday Season and it features places like New York City, Nantucket, North Pole (Alaska), and Santa Claus in Indiana.
Small side note: Chicago Bears "legend" Jay Cutler is from Santa Claus, Indiana. You'd think he'd be merrier but I digress.
Anyway, also on the list is a city that folks from all over the world make the pilgrimage to year after year.
Whether it be to shop at the historic Water Tower Place or to check out the wildly popular Christkindlmarket, tons of people head to Chicago for the holidays.
Whether it’s the world-renowned Art Institute, the attractions on Navy Pier, or the shops on Michigan Avenue, Chicago is always a fun and exciting place to visit. But if you can withstand the bitter cold, it's also a wonderful place to be during the holiday season. Start out with the Christmas Around the World and the Holidays of Light exhibits at the Museum of Science and Industry, follow with the Christkindlmarket (where 65 percent of the vendors are from Germany), and finish up with the millions of lights, giant snow globes, and other fun decorations at the Lincoln Park Zoo—which, best of all, is completely free!
You kind of had to figure it would be Chicago, but if you're in Illinois or Wisconsin and want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city, you could always come to Rockford.
Seriously. If you haven't been here before come on out. Stroll on State 2021 is the preeminent Rockford holiday festival and it's set this year for Saturday, November 27.
