Huge Data Breach Hits Chicago Area Restaurants
If you have been to any of Chicago and suburban restaurants, check your credit and debit card statements immediately.
Oh no. I've been to one of these restaurants. I'll have to go check my statements as soon as I get home.
We all love going out to eat, we just don't expect to be part of a massive data breach.
This is exactly what is happening to thousands of diners across the Chicago area and beyond.
According to WGN, Landry's and Golden Nugget hired a cyber security firm after reports of suspicious activity back in December.
Hackers had installed a program designed to steal cardholder names, expiration dates, and the verification codes from debit and credit cards.
The restaurants that are part of the data breach are as followed:

- Woodfield Mall: May 8 to Dec. 3, 2015
Bubba Gump Shrimp
- Chicago: May 8 to Dec. 3, 2015
Morton’s
- East Wacker Place, Chicago May 10, 2014 to March 14, 2015; May 8 to Dec. 3, 2015
- State Street: May 10, 2014 to March 14, 2015; May 8 to Dec. 3, 2015
- Schaumburg: May 5 to Dec. 3, 2015
McCormick & Schmick’s
- Chesnut Street, Chicago: May 9, 2014 to Dec. 3, 2015
- East Wacker Street, Chicago: May 9, 2014 to March 14, 2015; May 8 to Dec. 3, 2015
- Oak Brook: May 9, 2014 to March 14, 2015; May 8 to Dec. 3, 2015
Capis Italian Kitchen
