New Phone Scam Claims to Be IRS

If you get a call from 202-899-9014 from Washington, D.C. do not answer it!

Today, my phone has gotten six phone calls from the number 202-899-9014.

I didn't answer the call, but I would have to say that it did peak my curiosity.

Why would someone be calling me from Washington, D.C. and what do they have to say?

During one of these six calls, I received a voicemail.

The voicemail sounded like a robot. It said:

"There was a fraud and misconduct on your taxes, which you were hiding from the federal government. This needs to be rectified immediately so do return the call as soon as you receive the message. The number is 2 0 2 8 9 9 9 0 1 4, thank you, good-bye."

Ugh, what!?

The more I listened to the voicemail I could hear other people talking in the background. I could hear phones ringing in the background and that is when I decided to write this blog.

DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER BACK! It is a SCAM!

The message is left by automated dialers and is a computer that is programmed to call thousands of numbers every day.

Just a few months ago, an Indian woman and her boyfriend were arrested for making these types of calls and stealing over $150,000 from innocent people with an IRS type scam.
