I've been told by my bank that I can expect a new, more secure debit card in the mail.

It's got some sort of fancy computer chip in it, that will make it more secure.

Scam on new credit cards

According to WIFR, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is warning people about scammers.

Scammers may be targeting consumers who have not yet received the new chip cards by contacting them by phone or email.

During these emails and calls, the scammers claim to represent banks and lenders. They say they can update your account when you provide the necessary personal information before they receive the new card.

Identities can be stolen, malware could be installed on electronic devices and scammers can monitor their online activity all in part of this scam.

So if you receive this type of email, delete it. If they call, hang up. Protect yourself.
