One of Rockford's two marijuana dispensaries is handing out pizza and tacos to its loyal customers.

Just so you know, they don't have a food giveaway currently scheduled but Mapleglen has been doing it weekly for the past month or so.

The word is they also have food trucks out weekly but again, nothing confirmed.

However, just yesterday, Mapleglen celebrated "Pizza Day" with Veebo's giving out pizzas to customers who spend $100 in the store.

At the end of September, they started a "Halloween Madness" promotion by having Olivo Taco on-site handing out tacos to those who spent $50 at Mapleglen.

Pot dispensaries are a new thing to me and to most of us in Rockford and Illinois. While it might seem incredibly strange to partner marijuana with food trucks, I can't get over how incredibly genius a move this is.

If you're super confused, I got you.

'THC' — the psychoactive compound in cannabis that makes you high — affects your body physiologically in a few different ways. Ginger Hultin, RD, spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and owner of Champagne Nutrition, says that the munchies happen when THC taps into the part of your brain that controls your appetite.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the other dispensary in Rockford do the same thing and if you own a food truck, you should probably get in contact with someone from the management team.

Mapleglen Care Center is located at 4777 Stenstrom Road in Rockford.
