Experts Warn Tick Season Expected to Be BAD in 2020
Can 2020 just quit the madness already?!?
As if a worldwide pandemic, racial injustice movement, and murder hornets weren't enough to worry about...2020 thought it would be fun to add a stupid amount of ticks into the mix too.
Before my anger gets the best of me, let me explain the new thing we need to worry about this year.
Remember the mild winter we enjoyed this year? Remember how we didn't really have to suffer through an arctic blast that brought several days of below-freezing temperatures? We might have enjoyed it then, but I sure as heck am not enjoying it now. Guys, I HATE ticks, and now there's an abundance of them thanks to the mildness of this past winter.
An article featured on mystateline.com says;
The Lyme Disease Research Group reports a mild winter could mean an especially rough time for ticks.
Medical experts fear that many people who’ve been stuck inside due to coronavirus may “let their guard down” once they’re able to venture outdoors and not pay attention to tick bite prevention.
To make matters worse, health experts say many of the symptoms of Lyme Disease are similar to COVID-19 symptoms, so you definitely need to see your doctor before you start panicking. Symptoms of Lyme Disease include:
- Fever
- Muscle Aches
- Cough
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- Headache
- Sore throat
2020, stop the ridiculousness please, it's just mean. We're all trying to spend more time with our family and friends, and the safest place to do that is outdoors right now, and you are RUINING IT!
We better all make a point to check those we love for ticks after spending any time outdoors in the upcoming weeks, and that includes your pets too!
Stay safe and critter-free, my friends!
