Every Smokey and Juicy Detail about New BBQ Joint Coming to Rockford

A city with many amazing BBQ joints already is about to get another one. Life Rule: You can never have too many BBQ options. So what's up with Mission BBQ?

Earlier this week, we got the news that a plot of prime real estate on E. State Street in Rockford was going to be re-developed into three NEW businesses. Technically speaking, it's only ONE new business for Rockford.

The site of the new project is the old Rockford Realtors building in the 6700 block of E. State Street. Core Acquisitions is creating two different lots.

On Lot 1, they are constructing a 3 bay Valvoline Instant Oil Change. On Lot 2, the eastern lot, they are constructing a two-tenant 6,000 square-foot restaurant building.

The restaurant space will be filled by Five Guys Burgers & Fries, the other space will be the new BBQ joint.

Mission BBQ will be making Rockford their sixth location in Illinois and they'll be right next another (relatively new) BBQ joint, Smokey Bones.

Let's take a moment to first acknowledge how good it will smell when driving this block of Rockford's E. State Street.

Once I read the news, I immediately hit up Mission BBQ online to see wha they are all about. Before I even started looking at photos of their food and menu, I got a sense that this business has a purpose beyond the food and drinks.

Every day we strive to serve you authentic BBQ made from the freshest, most delectable ingredients, and serve it to you in a patriotic dining room filled with tributes to those who’ve made Our Country great, given to us by the people who earned them. Stop by at lunchtime, and you might catch us during our daily salute to the Stars and Stripes.

We don’t do any of this because we have to. It’s because we want to.
