Detroit Lions Coach to be honored in Beloit Friday

Detroit Lions Head Coach Jim Caldwell began his football career at Beloit Memorial High School, this Friday they honor him.

Jim Caldwell was born in Beloit, Wisc and has gone on to have a very successful NFL coaching career.

Currently Caldwell is the Head Coach of the Detroit Lions, he also has coached with The Colt and The Baltimore Ravens.

His ties to the Beloit community are still strong and according to Beloit Daily News, this Friday the community and fans of Coach Caldwell are invited to celebrate the dedication of the James Caldwell Gymnasium.

The ceremony and dedication of the gym is scheduled for 5:30 - 7 p.m  Friday at Fruzen Intermediate School, located at  2600 Milwaukee Road, Beloit, WI.

No word on if Detroit QB Matthew Stafford will be in attendance, rumor has it he will be busy practicing throwing to the other team.
