In Rockford, Brovember kicks off for local cancer research.

I can't believe it's now November. Where did October go? It just flew by. There are lots of big things happening this month including many old and new traditions. Of course, the start of the holiday season including Thanksgiving. Before you know it, we'll be saying "Happy New Year." That includes the annual Brovember campaign.

If you're not familiar with Brovember, here's a little background. You may have heard of Movember. According to movember.com,  "Movember is an annual event involving the growing of mustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues."  So Brovember brings that idea to a local level and more specifically in the Rockford area.

From brovembercentral.com, "Brovember's mission is to raise awareness and funds to promote awareness and find a cure for men's prostate cancer. We have teamed up with the University of Illinois College of Medicine to sponsor research efforts right here in Rockford."

In the beginning, the idea was for men to grow facial hair for the whole month. Then raise money through pledges. Now, letting your beard go for the month is no longer necessary. Thanks to all the women that have joined in to help the cause.

To participate, set up your own Bro-Fund Me page, HERE.

Good luck and thanks for helping out this great local organization.
