I grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, surviving on a steady diet of Joe Walsh, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin and other REAL rock 'n roll artists. I moved to Colorado in the mid-80's and began my radio career there, working all over the state including Aspen and Vail. I moved to the Stateline in April 2001 and am lucky to call it home. My 2 boys go to school here and we have our favorite record shops, restaurants and hangouts spread out all over the Stateline!

Most Helpless Man in Town Gets Frostbite [PIC]
It's winter and it's cold. This week, it's been exceptionally cold So much so, that as I'm writing this it is 7° above zero, and it feels wonderful. Wind chills have been brutal, driving gets tougher thanks to every other driver on the road and shoveling becomes harder to deal with each year that passes...
Brizz Record Bin- The Kinks “Destroyer” [VIDEO]
You know what I hate? When I'm at a shindig and there's a bunch of no-goodnicks pulling shenanigans on people. It's that old-timey language that gets your pal Brizz strange looks. I bring this up because on this day in 1966, the final episode of the American music variety show 'Shindig...
Snow Sculpting Competition Back at Sinnissippi Park [VIDEOS]
The 29th Annual Illinois Snow Sculpting Competition is coming back to Sinnissippi Park next week. From January 14-17, sculpting teams will be creating frozen pieces of art
Brizz Record Bin- Dire Straits “Down to the Waterline” [VIDEO]
Today's song for the Brizz Record Bin is the first song I ever heard by Dire Straits. My dad brought their debut album home in 1978 and put on Side 1. For thirty seconds, it's all atmosphere. The song begins by setting a mood. Audio fog rolling over the record grooves at thirty three revolutions per minute...
First Meteor Shower of 2015 [VIDEO]
Nothing will put you in your place like a good show from outer space. One time about a decade ago, we had the rare chance to see the northern lights in the stateline area. I have always wanted to see them, but never had. That night, I forgot about the opportunity and went to bed...
Stateline Warming Centers [LIST]
The new year brought with it bitter cold temperatures and there is no sign of things warming up until late next week at the earliest. It doesn't take long for bare skin to freeze in this weather. Here is a list of Warming Centers throughout Rockford and the outlying stateline area...
Brizz Record Bin- The Police “Can’t Stand Losing You” [VIDEO]
The Police were one of those bands that burned white hot for a short amount of time. Like The Doors and Hendrix before them, The Police made music that was completely their own and none of them had a dog in their album catalogs. All of their records were good, at the very least...
1970’s Rock Stars Pose with Parents
Frank Zappa. Grace Slick. David Crosby. Eric Clapton. These are the names of some of the biggest rock stars of the 1970s. They were also some of the biggest anti-establishment, 'fight the power'-types of the day too. Nothing Zappa did was conforming, Grace wanted to spike the drinks at a White House party with
Brizz Record Bin- Allman Brothers “Southbound” [VIDEO]
The Allman Brothers Band called it quits in 2014 after over forty-five years of being the premier southern blues boogie band. I've said it before and I'll say it forever- I have never seen a band so consistently damn good in concert. Whether Gregg has Dickie Betts, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks or his late brother Duane Allman playing guitar, it's always a great show...
Foreign Bodies in Bodies [LIST]
A butterfly, a nickel and a flashlight walk into a... You've probably heard jokes that start off that way, but I bet those jokes ended much differently than this story. More on that in a moment. There was a story this week about
