Almost 800,000 marijuana judgments to be erased from criminal records in Illinois.

In just a few months, there will be a new era in Illinois. I'm talking about recreational marijuana. Since the laws will change in the state, the authorities will have to go back and look at the criminal cases that were once illegal but will soon be legal.

According to cnn.com,

"If you've been arrested for weed in Illinois, you can breathe a sigh of relief. In addition to legalizing marijuana, there's relief to the roughly 770,000 residents of the state with marijuana-related offenses on their criminal records."

"The new Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act allows people to automatically receive clemency for convictions up to 30 grams of cannabis. Those convicted with larger amounts, from 30-500 grams can petition a court to have the charge lifted."
That is good news for many Illinois residents who had these charges affecting their lives
