I love the Stone Bridge Trail that starts up by my house in Rockton. You can hike or bike all the way to Popular Grove if you so desire.  The trail is really nice, they keep it clean and the amount of animals you see is incredible.  I have biked Stone Bridge in the rain and snow, it doesn't really matter to me. It is such a beautiful trail, I will go anytime I can.

What if you want a shorter hike, but with all the good stuff around you?  According to ONLY there are 11 Incredible Hikes Under 5 Miles Everyone In Illinois Should check out.

I have been on four of these trails and they are amazing. I am going to challenge myself to bike or hike all 11 of these trails this summer.

  • Starved Rock State Park
  • Garden of the Gods
  • Illinois Beach State Park
  • Matthiessen State Park
  • Lowden State Park
  • Hennepin Canal
  • Mississippi Palisades State Park
  • Castle Rock State Park
