Coming up later this summer, there is an event happening in Illinois to try to break a world record in the Windy City.

Chicago Event Trying To Break A Malort World Record This Summer

Since I was a kid, I always wanted to break a world record. I would say it's on my bucket list. I think it's because back in grade school, I would check out the Guinness Book of Records from the library. I found them fascinating. In fact, I still do. If you want me to click on an internet story, then have it about a record-breaking moment, and I'm reading it. Unfortunately, I've never found that "thing" that would get me into the record books.

According to Time Out Chicago...

Jeppson’s Malört is attempting to set the world record at its “Bad Decisions for Good Cause” event at Recess (838 W. Kinzie St.) on Sunday, August 30. The event kicks off at 5pm before the official attempt at 7:30pm.

Malört will match $10 from every ticket sold to support Ravenswood Community Services, a nonprofit dedicated to providing food, housing and other supportive services to Chicagoans facing hunger and homelessness.

Are you familiar with Malort? It's a very strong-tasting liquor that has been made famous in Chicago. It was brought to the Windy City from Europe and became an underground thing in the city. It has been made in Chicago for many years now, but it is famous throughout the United States. I would say doing a shot of Malort is definitely a Chicago thing.

Now, let's combine Malort with a world record. On August 30th is an event called “Bad Decisions for Good Cause" at a bar called Recess. The theme is "The Largest Mass of People Taking a Shot of Malört at the Same Time." It's a charity event benefiting Ravenswood Community Services. Such a great idea. If Malort isn't your thing, you can still witness the record-breaking moment through a live stream.
