Chicago Will Host The Biggest Pokémon Event In North America
We can't get a Super Bowl, National Championship, Wrestlemania, or Final Four in Illinois, but there is a unique championship coming to Chicago, and it might be bigger than all of them.
Illinois To Host The 2027 Pokémon North America International Championships
I'll have to admit, I don't know a lot about Pokémon. I understand that it's a very popular franchise. It has to be one of the biggest of all time. There are games, cards, shows, movies, merchandise, events, and so much more. It's not just a kid thing. I know plenty of adults who enjoy everything from Pokemon too. In fact, there's big money in Pokémon collecting.

According to NBC 5 Chicago...
Just days after the city hosted Pokémon GO Fest in Grant Park, Chicago has been named the host of the 2027 Pokémon North American International Championship.

Recently, Chicago hosted the Pokémon Go Fest at Grant Park. There were over 100,000 people at the event. That broke all of the North American attendance records for it. That is Lollapalooza-type numbers, which is huge and mind-blowing. After that amazing showing, another Pokémon event has been announced for the Windy City.

The Pokémon North American International Championship will be held in Chicago in 2027. That event will be held at McCormick Place. The competition will feature the Pokémon trading card game, the Pokémon Champions video game, and the Pokémon GO mobile game. There will be over $500,000 in prizes up for grabs. Of course, there will be plenty of other Pokemon related activites going on too. I can't even imagine how many people will be heading to Chicago to attend.
